Danny Spitzberg

Danny Spitzberg is a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studies sociology, entrepreneurship, and industrial policy. His research focuses on the commercialization of space exploration and its practical and political implications for innovation. Danny also teaches students from China and the US in an intensive summer course on environmental sustainability and technology. In 2009, Danny was a fellow at The Breakthrough Institute, where he work on ‘Smart Deployment’, a framework to accelerate the process of making clean energy cheap by using lessons from past cases of technological progress to guide policy. Previously, he worked on environmental technology projects with TERI in India and at NYU’s Environmental Health Clinic. He also co-edits the literary magazine Ox Family. In the future, Danny plans to continue focusing on cooperative business development, smart public investment, and entrepreneurship. On land, Danny builds and rides bikes. On water, he rows on the Charles River in Boston, his home.
